About Willmon Farm

Farmer Bill

The roots run deep at Willmon Farm. W.R. Willmon developed a lifelong love of farming beginning in Arkansas as a child while helping his mother with the family garden. Wherever W.R., his wife, Maxine, and their four children lived, W.R. planted a vegetable garden. After retiring to Splendora, Texas in 1971, he became widely known as the "Tomato Man." Homegrown tomatoes were his specialty, selling them to stores from Houston to Livingston and from a vegetable stand at home.

In 1995, W.R. with the help of his son, Bill, planted and harvested his last garden at the age of 83. His legacy continues to this day. Bill, with his mom’s help and guidance, continued to plant the garden but on a much smaller scale. Over the years, Bill developed a love for farming and growing vegetables. With every year, he gained personal experience and cultivated a larger garden. Today, Willmon Farm is the place to go for homegrown tomatoes.

"Farmer Bill" grows far more than tomatoes. He also grows a great variety of other vegetables and makes homemade salsas, pickles, and sauces. Fresh vegetable lovers come from miles around for that homegrown, fresh-picked flavor.
